Waterloo Showdown
The Optimist Club of Downie Midget A Aces travelled to Waterloo on Saturday where they were downed 4-2. The Aces came out strong with lots of pressure early in the game.  They were rewarded on the scoreboard with a hard one-timer by Kayla Veldman from the point. Shortly after, Stratford ran into some penalty trouble and allowed some power play goals.  Stratford's second goal came from Taegan Haynes unassisted. Megan Jackson made a few timely saves to keep Stratford in the game, but the Aces were unable to generate enough offence to overtake the Ravens.

The Optimist Club of Downie Midget A Aces faced the Waterloo Ravens again on Sunday.  With a loss to the Ravens the day before, the Aces were a determined squad and came out flying.  Rachel Dotzert opened the scoring for Stratford on a pass from Maggie Schweitzer. The Aces showed discipline in staying out of the penalty box which allowed them to take control of the game.  Caroline McDowell scored the insurance marker on a short handed goal late in the game.  Sadie Nelson played a solid game between the pipes shutting down the Waterloo offence until late in the third period when the Ravens scored on a scramble in front of the net.
