Midget Aces Remain Undefeated
The Downie
Optimist Midget A Aces remain undefeated in their season with a win and tie on
the weekend.
The Aces traveled to
Strathroy on Saturday where they levelled the Bluewater Hawks, 5-0. The Aces strong offence was due to
successfully cycling the puck all game.
A strong performance from Taylor Woodhouse resulted in two goals from
her. Aden Green, Alexis Brooks, and
Kayla Veldman rounded out the scoring.
Assists were earned by Taegan Haynes with two, Jaime Van Nes, Nicole
Marriage, and Caroline McDowell. Sadie
Nelson was great in net to secure the shut-out.
On Sunday, the Aces tied the Woodstock Wildcats 1-1. Stratford took the lead early in the first period on a goal by Rachel Dotzert from Taylor Woodhouse. The Aces suffered some penalty trouble in the third period which cost them a goal. Stratford responded with great pressure and several opportunities for the go-ahead goal, but just could not find the back of the net. Megan Jackson made some good saves to keep the score to one.
