Reynen Unbeatable/Peewee's to Finals
Tasia Reynen was dynamic between the pipes to shut down visiting Sarnia with two straight shutouts and advancing the Vancea Financial sponsored Peewee B Aces into the finals in the West Division. In a 3-0 win Friday night, the scoring started early in the second period when Nicolle Crowley buried a top shelf goal assisted by goalie Reynen. Third period goals came from Shayla Brooks and Logan Arnold with assists going to Samantha McLeod, Madison McNab, and Halle Blowes. Carly Plain and Michaela McKay played great defensively to help in the win. Sunday's game resulted in another 3-0 score with Crowley starting the scoring in the first assisted by Blowes. Kiana Lauze netted Stratford's second goal unassisted with the third goal by Arnold, unassisted. Katelyn Berg and Blowes worked hard on defense to help in the win.
Sarnia made several attempts during both games to get the puck in the Stratford net, but Reynen was too quick in protecting her territory. Stratford had lost their first game against Sarnia on Wednesday night 2-0 with the second goal being quite questionnable. Megan Jesse made some timely saves in net to keep Sarnia at two goals. The peewee's play Zorra in the final playoff series beginning next weekend. The peewee's played a second game Sunday in game 5 of playdown action against Blythe. The peewees got a quick lead with a hard fought effort and goal by Madison Webley-Bruce, unassisted. Stratford was able to hold their 1-0 lead until Blythe tied it 1-1 with three minutes left of play. Maia Moore and Allison Zimmerman were strong offensively and Reynen made timely saves in net to keep the game at a tie. Game six of playdowns is Tuesday night.
