Stratford Aces’ Richardson and Van Bakel Headed to Junior Hockey with U22 AA Bluewater Hawks
The Stratford Aces are proud to announce that Charlotte Richardson and Abigayle Van Bakel have received the call to play junior hockey with the U22 AA Bluewater Hawks for the upcoming season.
Both Richardson and Van Bakel have been standout players and exemplary teammates throughout their time with the Aces organization. Abigayle Van Bakel has been a dedicated member of the program for the past six years, while Charlotte Richardson has proudly worn the Aces jersey for the past four. Their commitment, leadership, and love for the game have left a lasting impact on the Aces family.
During their time with the Aces, both players took on key leadership roles that exemplified their character and influence on and off the ice. Charlotte Richardson served as the captain of the U15 AA Stratford Aces, leading by example with her work ethic, poise, and team-first attitude. Abigayle Van Bakel was right alongside her as an assistant captain, known for her strong voice in the room, steady presence on the ice, and relentless competitive spirit. Together, they helped set the tone for their team and created a culture of accountability, respect, and determination.
Most recently, both Charlotte and Abigayle were highly contributing members of the Stratford Aces U18AA team that earned a silver medal at the Ontario Provincial Championships. Their leadership, skill, and resilience played a crucial role in the team's success on one of the biggest stages in minor hockey.
These two athletes truly embody what it means to be a Stratford Ace. They showed up every day ready to work, always putting the needs of the team ahead of their own. Whether it was blocking a shot, making a key play, or encouraging a teammate from the bench, Charlotte and Abigayle consistently demonstrated selflessness and commitment. Off the ice, their dedication to the Stratford Aces extended into the community, where they served as positive role models and often volunteered their time at local events and with younger teams in the organization. Their passion for the game, their teammates, and their community was evident in everything they did. They were leaders in every sense of the word—respected by coaches, trusted by teammates, and admired by the next generation of Aces.
As they take the next step in their hockey journeys, the Aces extend their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to both Charlotte and Abigayle.
Good luck in Bluewater—and as always, #RollAces
