U15C weekend round up for October 21-23
Slow start hurts Aces U15 'C' Aces in Ingersoll. Strong next-day effort results in first win of the season.

The Taylor Fluids Aces U15 'C' travelled to Ingersoll on Saturday to face-off against the West Oxford Inferno in what was the first game of the Aces regular season.

The Inferno lived up to there name coming out fast and furious in the game with the Aces finding themselves in a hole 2 – 0 after one period of play.

The second period was back and forth play with action in both ends with Peyton Keating-Boyles making some determined saves to ensure the game stayed within reach.

However, a quick third period goal by the home side ensured the Inferno lead was too much for the Aces to overcome although a break-away goal in the last minute of play by Katelyn McMahon ensured the Aces weren't shut out.

On Sunday, the Aces made their way to Exeter for what would become the Aces first win of the short season against the South Huron Sabres.

This time it was the Sabres who looked to be finding their legs as the Aces out-chanced the opposition with several break-a-ways in the first half of the first period. Continued play in South Huron's end finally resulted in the Aces taking the lead in the last minute of the first when Cassie Richardson's pass to the point and a blistering point shot by Rylee Kipfer resulted in the first Aces goal of the game.

Second period action was fairly even as the South Huron girls found their stride. The home side tied it up early in the second when the Aces defense was unable to clear the puck the front of the net. An injury time-out punctuated the middle of the frame when an Aces defensemen tried to dump the puck off of the glass hitting her team's trainer forcing her to leave the game. The Aces responded well after the distraction and regained the lead on another late period goal as Katelyn McMahon's persistence paid off with her finding the back of the net on a break-a-way after being denied on a couple of earlier chances.

Early third period action saw a Paige Taylor shot result in Annika Beaton potting the rebound in what was her first goal of her hockey career. Congratulations Annika!

The final two minutes of play was frantic and with just over a minute remaining South Huron's strongest line scored to cut the Aces lead to one. The Aces would bend but didn't break and held on the defeat the Sabres with the final score 3 - 2 .

The next action for the Taylor Fluids U15 'C' team is the first home game of the season against Lucan on Thursday October 28th.
