Nickel's PeeWees Take Division Title in Fine Form
U13C PeeWees Take Command over Beleaguered Sabres in Game 3

From the word go the team formed by Todd Nickel, Wex Gethke and Brianne Smith has taken their role in the Aces organization seriously to develop players ready for success into the second half of their Aces career. Teams like this are formative for young minds, where the skill learned and confidence formed create mental resilience that will help young individuals through their adolescence as they mature into members of society. The Aces U13C's have flourished. They are a team of character where new talent has emerged, and that talent honed to achieved results.

In the final showdown between the Aces C and the South Huron Sabres, the Aces took to the ice to calmly finish a job and claim the division pool crown. The key to success lay with an awesome buildup of a zone clearing defense setting up the Wheal, Smith, Macfarlane line and the Philips, Brander, Pethick lines to sustain pressure deep in the Sabre zone, not allowing the Sabres offence a chance to get going. When the Sabres did break, the defense of Gianna Nickel, Avery Stokes, Brooklyn Finnie, Jessica Lerch, Brinlee Wall and Pippa Nyenhuis cleared with such efficiency netminder Ivy Demers worried little about the offence penetrating through.

Goals from the Aces tic-tack-toe line of Gethke, Mclaughlin and Leighton Nickel pounding the net and burying rebounds ensured the win for the Ace offence.

The provincials lie ahead.  The girls are looking for more blood. They are hungry for the continued glory that awaits.
