Stratford Aces Atom C team made it to the semi-finals
On Friday Nov 15 we had already won our first two games and finished the day in second place in the standings so everyone was excited for Day 2.

Our first game on Saturday was against the Woodstock Wildcats and while it was a close game we didn't pull off the win and lost 2-0. Despite this loss we can recognize that everyone on our team played great especially Makinlee Phillips in net who had the lowest % of goals against then any other goalie in Atom C Division. Gianna Nickel played hard too and was nominated player of the game. Nice work Gianna!

We headed into our 4th game of the tournament playing against Lambeth Lancers. Right at the start with only 45 seconds into the first period Hallie Turpin was able to score our team's first goal with Chloe Pethick picking up the assist. Way to go Hallie! We were able to shut down many plays from Lambeth for the rest of the period but unfortunately Lambeth tied things up near the end of the first period. We got the lead back in the second period when Mira Broughton scored our second goal on a break-a-way. Great work Mira!. Hallie Turpin was nominated as player of the game because she hustled and put herself everywhere the puck went. We finished Day 2 of the tournament in 2nd place which meant we moved onto the semi-finals on Sunday.

Sunday morning meant a re-match for us against Lambeth Lancers but we got eliminated with a 4-0 loss. It was exciting to make it to the semi-finals and to acknowledge how much everyone has improved. The proof was seeing our team make it to the semi-finals and all of our players should be proud of their efforts. Leighton Whetstone was nominated for player of the game. Congrats Leighton!

It was a fun tournament and we look forward to next year!
