Peewee C Aces Finish First in their Division at the Festival Cup!
The Aces split their games today going 1-1 but still ended up in first place in their division.
The Aces started the day strong with a solid 4-0 win over Ilderton. Player of the Game was Laura who carried over her strong play from Friday with another multi-point game. Laura's playmaking was especially evident with several great passes to her linemates that resulted in goals.
The other highlight of the game was the passing of the Aces defense. Peyton, Peyton, Rachael and Rylee all has excellent games but particularly notable was their top notch passing this morning. The Aces were able to generate numerous scoring chances as a result of the decision making and passing from the defence. Peyton B-K added another shutout to her season.
Our afternoon game featured a matchup with a St Thomas team that needed a win to advance to the semi-finals on Sunday. The Aces played a solid all around game and were able to respond quickly by tying the score immediately after St Thomas scored in the opening minutes. Deirdre scored the Aces' goal on a great shot from the mid-slot.
The Aces applied a lot of pressure and spent long stretches with the St Thomas team hemmed in their end but the St Thomas goaltender played an excellent game.
Rachael was named the player of the game for her all-around solid play and aggressive checking.
The Aces are playing in the tournament semi-finals tomorrow morning (Sun, Nov 17) at 8am at Rotary RBC.
