Peewee C Aces Win First Opening Segment Game
Submitted By Jason Broughton on Monday, October 7, 2019
The Aces started off the Opening Segment portion of the season with a hard fought 2-1 victory in Mooretown against the Lady Flags.

The Lady Flags got on the board first, finishing off a partial breakaway down the left wing. With only 41 seconds left in the period, the Aces were able to tie the game on a goal by Deirdre. Laura (now tied for the team lead in assists) made a great outlet pass to spring Deirdre who was able to find some open space past the defender and fire home a great wrist shot.

The Aces found their legs in the second period and utilized a strong forechecking game to carry the play for most of the second period. The Aces again found the scoreboard in the last minute of the period. Katelynn scored on a breakaway deke with only 11 seconds remaining in the period. Assists to Rylee and Rachael with a great breakaway pass.

The Aces played an up-tempo, aggressive game and kept the Lady Flags hemmed in their own end for long stretches of the game. Cassie and Piper led the way with some very enthusiastic forechecking.

Peyton made some timely saves in the third period as the Lady Flags applied some pressure to try to tie the game. The Aces defence had a great overall game and mostly limited the scoring chances against.

Special thanks to our team sponsor Abtron Electric for the new, long-sleeve warm up shirts for the girls.
