Strong Showing for the Downie Optimist Bantam BB Aces
The Downie Optimist Bantam BB girls team finished the Stratford Aces Festival Cup Challenge with one win, one loss and two ties.

Friday morning the girls gave a full team effort with one of their best games of the year so far and wore down the feisty Huron Heat girls. The first period ended scoreless but Taylor Neeb finished off a nice set up from line mates Zoee Nurse and Avery Faulhafer early in the second. Part way through the third the same line connected again with Neeb getting her second of the game. Nurse put the game out of reach with a great shot. The Huron Heat would score late in the 3-1 Stratford win.   Later in the day in Milverton on the big ice against a fresh Ayr team Stratford didn't have the same energy. Goaltender Kierstyn Hart did all she could do to stop the Ayr team. Ayr finally broke through with a goal with four minutes left in the game. They would add an empty net goal for a 2-0 Stratford lose to the eventual tournament champs.    Back at it Saturday morning Stratford deserved a better fate but settled for a 0-0 tie against North York. Hart recorded the shutout.    Later in the day in a must win game Stratford was down early after a Lambton power play goal. Once again Neeb was able to score on a nice passing play. Down 2-1 late in the game Stratford had a goal disallowed on a goal mouth scramble. But Stratford didn't give up and the next shift Alexis Insley scored on a deflection from a strong point shot. Stratford tried to rally for a last second win but had to settle for a 2-2 tie.    In league action Stratford remained undefeated in three games with a 2-0 win over the Huron Heat. Hart recorded another shutout.
