On the Road Again
The Bantam A Aces headed out on the road for two more games this past week. On Tuesday night they once again faced their Huron County rival, the South Huron Sabres. The first shift of the game saw a wicked shot fly over our goalie’s shoulder to put the Sabres up 1-0. The score stayed that way until after the intermission. Within the first five minutes of the third period, the Sabres scored again. Down two to zero, the Aces dug in their heels and finally went to work. The girls spent the rest of the period working hard to keep the puck in Sabre territory and were rewarded with two goals to tie the game. Hailey Zurell and Eve Greig did what they do best and sent pucks flying into the top corner of the net, over the Sabre goalie’s shoulder! The Aces had so many other opportunities to finish this game with a win but just could not buy one more goal!! The game ended a 2-2 tie and it looks like the rivalry continues!!

The Bantam A Aces played their second game of the week in Cambridge on Sunday night. The girls knew they had to dig in against the Roadrunners as they beat the Aces 4-1 the first time around. The first period proved to be successful for our Aces! Ashlyn Witt deflected one in off of a pass from Eve Greig. Carly Goos was hot in net as she stopped shot after shot including numerous breakaways! Shortly into the second period, Sadie MacArthur scored the Aces second goal when she picked up a breakaway pass from Ashley Radford and put one over the goalie’s shoulder. The Aces were up 2-0 when Cambridge finally replied with one of their own. And then penalty trouble late into the second period for the Aces resulted in Cambridge scoring another one to tie it up just before the intermission. The third period was a story of two goalies. Both girls made some great saves and kept the score a 2-2 tie. A good battle to the end, girls! You will get them next time!
