Two Tough Weekends followed by a Win!
The Cooper Standard Bantam A Aces had two tough weekends of hockey.
After a string of 4-1 losses, the Aces scraped by last Sunday night with a 2-2 tie against the Waterloo Wolves. The scoring started in the first period when Ella VanBakel banged a rebound into the back of the net. Meg Feore recorded the assist. Eve Greig bounced the Aces second goal of the game off the back of the goalie to put Stratford up 2-0 at the end of the first. Waterloo responded with one of their own in the second and again in the third to tie the game at 2. Carley Goos did her thing in net and kept the game close! Hopefully this tie is a step in the right direction for the Aces! Keep working hard, girls!
The Aces final game of the season took place on a snowy, Saturday night in Exeter. The Aces faced a familiar foe in the Sabres and skated away with a 3-1 win! The scoring started in the first period when Anna Tigani flipped a rebound over the Sabre goalie. The second period saw Olivia Sim score from the blue line when she sent a rocket over the goalie's shoulder to make it 2-0. South Huron responded in the third with a rebound goal in front of our net but the Aces sealed the deal with an empty net goal by Hailey Zurell to finish the game and take the two points! An exhibition game next weekend followed by the London Devilette's tournament will hopefully result in the Aces being more than ready for playoffs to start! Good luck, Aces!
