A Split Decision
The Cooper Standard Bantam A Aces faced the Woolwich Wild twice this week and split the games with one win each.
On Thursday, the Wild came into town to face the Aces at the Allman. The Aces came out a bit behind the eight ball which resulted in Woolwich scoring once in the first and two more goals in the second. Down 3-0 heading into the third, the Aces finally decided to get on the scoreboard with one for their own. Hailey Zurell scored with help from Neave Goris. Carley Goos, once again, kept the game close with some big saves in the last few minutes! A 3-1 score was as close as the Aces were going to get and the Wild went home with two points.
On Sunday, these two teams faced each other again...this time in an old barn in St. Jacobs! The Aces started this game with a bit more jump in their step and got themselves on the board first, with 3 minutes left in the first period. Hailey Zurell scored and Sadie MacArthur recorded the assist. The rest of the game was a battle but Mia Morris shut the door on the Wild as she faced shot after shot and made save after save! With three seconds left on the clock, a goal for the Wild was called off and the Aces preserved the win! A great way to end the weekend, ladies!
