A Win to Finish the Weekend
The Cooper Standard Bantam A Aces finished their weekend of league play with 2 more points.
The pesky Cambridge Roadrunners flew into town on a rare Friday night to face our Aces. The Roadrunners have been a thorn in the Aces side all season and this night proved to be no different. The Aces spend much of the first and half of the second period in the Roadrunner end. One goal was scored by Meg Feore, assisted by Ashlyn Witt and Ella VanBakel to give the Aces the early lead. But late in the second, those Roadrunners scored two quick goals and didn’t look back! The third period saw our Aces fire shot after shot at a very hot Cambridge goalie but to no avail! The Roadrunners scored again in the third. Despite the fact that our Aces goalie, Carley Goos made many amazing late-game saves to keep it close, Cambridge sealed a 4-1 win with an empty net goal at the end of the game. The score definitely did not reflect the level of play that our Aces demonstrated during this game! Keep it up, girls, you will get them next time!
Saturday afternoon in Wilmot ended with a much better outcome! The Aces finished with a 1-0 win over the hometown Wolverines. Again, shot after shot was taken at the Wolverine goalie who made many fantastic saves. Mia Morris made some show stopper saves of her own as she successfully preserved the shut out win! Ashlyn Witt scored the lone goal with help from Meg Feore and Haddie McLaughlin. A great game, girls!
