Two More Wins!
The Bantam A Aces finished a two game home stand with two big wins this past weekend!

The South Huron Sabres were in town on Saturday at noon and our Aces were ready to battle! The Aces struck first in the beginning period when Ashlyn Witt sent a rebound into the back of the net. Sadie MacArthur and Hailey Zurell added the helpers.

Into the second period and the Aces went up 2-0 on the Sabres. Meg Schoonderwoerd scored her first of the season with a great shot from the point. Eve Greig and Neave Goris recorded the assists. Finally, close to the end of the second, the Sabres responded with one of their own to close the gap to 2-1 after 2.

The third period was back and forth with both goalies stopping shots including our Ace, Mia Morris. She turned away some close calls and kept the Aces in the game! With a minute or so left on the clock the Sabres pulled their goalie, but a bouncy puck that scooted by their defence resulted in Ella Van Bakel putting in an empty net goal to seal the deal. A great win, girls!!

Aces Day is always a great day at the rink! Parents get to spend money on Aces gear and the girls get to support other teams and watch friends play! The Bantam A Aces were set to face a new opponent in the Ancaster Avalanche.  This exhibition game was going to be a good challenge for both teams!

With a large crowd on hand, the Aces put three goals into the net in the first period! The first goal was scored by Ashlyn Witt on a breakaway when she roofed it over the goalie’s shoulder! Ashley Radford put the next goal in with help from her line mates, Eve Greig and Haddie McLaughlin. The third goal was scored by Ashlyn Witt once again, with help from her line mates, Sadie MacArthur and Hailey Zurell.

The second period was more of the same as the Aces put four more goals on the board to go ahead 7-0. Eve Greig, Sadie MacArthur, Hailey Zurell and Ashley Radford scored the goals while Ashlyn Witt, Hailey Zurell, Neave Goris and Sadie MacArthur with 2, recorded the assists. It was a great period of passing, communication and heads up play by all of the girls!

The final period saw Ancaster finally respond with one but that was all they could get as Carley Goos shut them down and stopped the rest! The game ended 7-1 and our Aces had another successful weekend at the rink!! Keep it up, girls!
