The Taylor Fluid Systems Peewee BB team traveled to Fergus on Sunday to battle the Grand River Mustangs for the fourth time this season; going into the game with a 2-0-1 record. Ava Neumeister got the nod to start this game and as per usual she was keen, focused and on her game stopping all shots that came her way. The Aces started the game strong keeping the shots against to a minimum and testing the Mustangs goalie with multiple good scoring opportunities. The first period ended with neither team scoring. The second period started much the same, except that the Aces, through team work, got on the board with a sweet goal from Olivia Van Straaten. The play started with the puck getting dumped into the corner, Josephine Jarmuth won the battle for the puck, passed it to Van Straaten who shot from the blueline. The puck was too hot for the Mustangs goalie to handle; she made the original glove save but the puck had enough force to bounce out of the glove and into the back of the net to put the Aces up one. The Aces kept battling for the rest of the period testing the Mustangs goalie with multiple shots, tips and dekes as well as backchecking to help Neumeister keep the Aces in the game. The second period ended 1-0. The third period seen two goals. The first was a nice shot from the point, the shot may have been going high of the net but with some stellar hand-eye coordination Paige Campbell tipped the puck out of the air directly into the net. However, the tip was deemed a high stick and thus the goal was waived off by the officials. Still only up by one, the Aces thought it would be best to get some insurance; so, they did. Grace Laverty passed the puck to Aveleen Flood who passed back to the point where Kylie Fifield took a shot from the point. The shot had some mustard on it and the puck had some eyes as it made its way through the traffic and between the legs of the Mustangs goalie for the insurance. The game ended 2-0. Another shut out for Neumeister and another win for the Aces to put them at 3-0-1 against the Mustangs and 27-5-9 for the season. Well done Aces!!
