NotesThe TFS Aces Saturday matinee was against
the Cambridge Roadrunners. As the past two exhibition game against the
Roadrunners ended in ties and the Aces being down a strong forward, we knew
this was going to be a tough and physical game. Sloan Cameron took the position
between the pipes for this game. Just like Neumeister the game before, Cameron
was unbeatable. Although the number of shots Cameron faced did not amount to a
lot, the ones she did face, tested her skills, and as per usual, Cameron
responded without mistake; flashing the leather and kicking out the toe Cameron
made some beauty saves and was solid between the pipes. The TFS forwards and
defence also had a stellar game, maintaining possession of the puck via
regrouping in all zones and moving the puck up when the opportunity presented
itself was one of the big reasons the Aces came out with another 2-0 victory.
The first goal, which set the pace for the Aces happened in the first shift of
the game. The puck was sent deep in the offensive zone, the Roadrunners tried
to breakout but with an excellent pinch from our Devon Taylor to create a
turnover and a quick pass to Floody. Floody controlled the puck and made a hard
pass to Leis who was in front of the net, made no mistake putting the girls up
one in the first minute of the game. The Aces second goal was halfway through
second period. Leis won the draw in the offensive zone back to Jessie Horan who
made a hard pass to her partner Grace Laverty, Laverty took the shot from the
point to create a rebound, Paige Campbell was in the slot to pick up the
rebound and bury the puck to get her second goal of the weekend and some
insurance for the Aces. The game ended 2-0 for the TFS Aces and max number of
points for the weekend. Good luck next weekend in the Kitchener Fallfest
Tournament Girls!!
