NotesSunday’s game was against
Guelph. Our last game against Guelph ended in a 4-2 victory for the good guys;
they were wanting some revenue, but once they seen that Sloan Cameron was
between the pipes, they were quickly deflated. I think the TFS Aces were still
feeling the hurt from yesterdays loss and decided to take it out on Gryphons.
The girls out shot then 27 to 12 throughout the game. The first goal of the
game was scored by Josephine Jarmuth. She received a pass in the neutral zone
from Olivia Van Straaten, Jarmuth skated the puck past three defenders winding
her way to her favorite shooting spot and fired one at the goalie. This was a
perfectly placed shot as even the goalie was surprised the puck went in as she
thought she had the whole side was covered; except for one spot the size of a
puck. The Aces second goal was compliments of Kara Rolph who stole the puck
from the defenders at the defensive blueline, went in on the goalie and picked
the short side to bury the puck and put the Aces up by two. Two minutes later
the Gryphons were the next to score. It was a goal worthy of a comment...nice
hands and patience beat a couple of our defence and ultimately our goalie to
cut our lead in half and finish the second period. The third was a rough period
but neither team was going to back down. About two minutes into the third
period the Aces decided to play a bit of tic-tac-toe with a goal scoring tip at
the end. The first pass the from the corner to Kylie Fifield who made a pass to
Aveleen Flood who was high slot, Floody took the shot towards the net and as we
have seen in the past, Ella Taylor was in the perfect spot to tip the biscuit
high into the net for the eventual game winner - this is the type of goal that
puts a smile on a coaches faces excellent puck passing and positioning! The
Gryphons tried to claw their way back by sneaking one by Cameron to get within
one again, but the TFS Aces were not going to slow down. With three minutes
left in the game, Josie Walker took a shot from the slot and Kara Rolph jumped
on the rebound lifting the puck high and over the goalie for a her second of
the game and a little added insurance for her team mates. The game ended 4-2
for the TFS good guys!! Two hard fought battles this weekend girls…well done.
