NotesThe Taylor Fluid Systems Peewee BB girls
battled the Woodstock Wildcats for the third time this season with a (1-1-0)
record thus far; this was the rubber match. After some pregame game pictures,
the Taylor Fluid Systems coaches and girls were ready to play.
The first period started out as a back and
forth battle until about three and a half minutes left in the period. Josephine
Jarmuth skated the puck down the side boards battling past the defense and shot
the puck from the dot. The Wildcats goalie couldn’t handle such a hard shot and
gave up a rebound for Aveleen Flood, who was perfectly positioned to tap the
puck home to give the Aces the lead. Not long after the Wildcats gain
possession of the puck in our end and got one by our goalie with an unfortunate
bounce off the stick, over the shoulder and into the net to tie the game and
end the first period. The second period didn’t start quite as drawn up by the
coaches. 45 seconds into the period Wildcats gained entry into our end, threw
the puck to the front of the net for a back-door goal that Sloan Cameron had no
chance to save to take the lead. Not to be deflated, the Aces battled on and
their hard work would pay off. With some good forechecking to keep the puck in
the offensive zone, the Aces gained possession and control of the puck, Anne
Nickel fired a shot to create a rebound and Josie Walker was there to bury the
rebound to tie the game at two apiece. The third period was a battle both ways
with Cameron making some awesome saves to keep the Aces in the game; the
defense winning battles and clearing the puck from in front of the net and the
forwards backchecking and getting multiple chances to take the lead but without
prevail. The game ended tied 2-2 with no decision on the rubber match….until
next time Wildcats.
