Aces Start Provincial Palydowns With 4 Big Points
The Humphrey Fleet Service Atom A Aces earned four crucial points in provincial playdowns with victories over the Saugeen Maitland Lightning and Huron Heat, on February 15th and 16th.

Game 1 in Howick started with Emma Van Nes picking up the puck in the Aces end and went coast to coast before ripping it through the netminder. Unfortunately the Aces ran into penalty trouble and had to kill off a five on three. Chloe Rison had to come up with several huge saves as the Lightning kept the pressure on. Saugeen converted with 90 seconds left in the first and then took the lead early in the third. Rison refused to give making several huge saves on breakaways. With less than five minutes to go in the second, Van Nes dumped it off the boards to Abby Van Bakel. She won the race and snapped it home. Seconds later, Jayda Houben and Van Bakel set Jayda Dietz and she buried the loose puck with 2:28 remaining. The Lightning pulled their goalie but the Aces came away with the 3-2 victory. 

On February 16, the Aces took on the Huron Heat and came home with a well earned 3-1 win. In the dying seconds of the first, Eve Binns rifled a one-timer from Jule Cameron. Midway through the second, Emersyn Miller scored her 50th of the season when she ripped a beautiful backhander bar down from the slot to give the Aces a 2-0 lead. Van Nes and Van Bakel earned assists. Late in the second, Malaika Kibedi came up with a huge glove save on a breakaway. Early in the third, Harmer won the draw and she buried a tic tac toe with Binns and Cameron. Kibedi came up with several big saves in the third unfortunately the Heat took advantage of a last minute breakaway. The Aces host Saugeen Maitland Lightning, February 22nd at 11:45 a.m. at the Molson Arena and then they face South Huron Sabres in provincial playdowns, February 23rd.  

The Aces open the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League west division semifinals versus Woolwich Wild, February 27th, 28th, and 29th.
