On Saturday afternoon the Taylor Fluid Systems Peewee C Stratford
Aces played host to the Tillsonburg Lightning for game two of their best of
three Western Ontario Girls Hockey League Championship series. The Aces came into the game with their backs
against the wall, having narrowly lost game one in Tillsonburg on Thursday
night, and as the puck dropped they immediately put the pedal to the metal. The Coaches’ pre-game speech had obviously
sparked their competitive spirits; throughout the contest they won many
battles, dominating puck possession, time in the offensive zone, shots on goal
and nail-biting moments.
It took a rocket of a shot by a Lightning D to beat the near-impenetrable barrier known as Ava Neumeister, and in the end it proved to be the difference maker as the Aces fell 1-0.
Despite falling short of the League Championship title the Aces squad had a lot to be proud of and still more to look forward to as their dedication to team and hard work had earned them a spot in next month’s Provincial Championships.
Get ready Toronto; the Stratford Aces are coming to town!
