regular season was in the books and the Taylor Fluid Systems Peewee C Stratford
Aces’ season record of 41-14-5 earned them a spot in the Western Ontario Girls
Hockey League Championship against the Tillsonburg Lightning.
Having earned home ice advantage based on their regular season head-to-head record against the Aces, the Lightning played host for game one of the best of three championship series on Thursday at the Tillsonburg arena.
The game proved to be an aggressive, fast-paced, tight-checking affair from start to finish. Ava Neumeister had another outstanding game, keeping the Aces in the contest early. Alanah McIlroy and Devan Taylor were relentlessly tenacious on defense all night long.
Ally Wheal contributed the Aces’ lone goal as the team fell short in game one with a final score 2-1.
The Aces hope to even the series at home on Saturday afternoon as they play host to the Lightning at the Molson Arena.
