On
Tuesday, February 26th the Stratford Aces Peewee C team travelled to Brussels
for a playdown game against the Huron Heat team.
The Aces
cheering squad are familiar with this venue and arrived ready to cheer -
wearing snow pants, balaclavas, hats, scarves and electric blankets. This old
barn can turn a good fan blue!
This game was evenly matched, with both teams showing up to play. Despite great effort and numerous shots on net, the Aces just couldn’t sink one in the net past the Huron Heat’s stellar net minder. The Aces kept this goalie on her toes with endless challenges of her skills.
Although only seeing a handful of shots on her net, the mighty Ava Neumeister kept the pucks out with her fierce net minding skills. Fans were concerned that she was getting cold by the lack of action on her side of the rink.
After a blustery storm the previous day that shut down many school boards in the area, the Aces will meet up with the Mitchell Meteors on Wednesday at home, unless the next forecasted storm coming in causes more road closures on the day. Wednesday’s game is part of the Playoff series, in the Aces quest to earn a spot at Provincials in April.
