On Thursday, December 27th, 2018, Canadian Blood
Services held a Blood Donor Clinic at the Rotary Complex, Community Hall. The Stratford Aces Peewee C team had reached
out to CBS offering our help.
The Blood Drive that day had a goal to reach of 150 donors. Our team promoted the blood drive, challenging other Aces team parents to come out and donate. 10 of our team parents came out that day to donate as well! It was a packed house in the Community Hall and the turnout was inspiring.
Canadian Blood Services reached out to us the next morning;
“I wanted to pass along our sincerest thanks to all those who came out to support yesterday’s event. We saw a phenomenal response from the Stratford community and as such, were able to collect 132 donations (just shy of the goal of 144). Those donations will go a long way towards supporting patients in need of blood heading into the New Year…
Again, thanks so much for rallying the Stratford Aces community around saving lives this holiday season!”
Our Team Manager chatted with a couple of the blood donors who came out that evening. Davis and her dad came out to donate after seeing the invitation on the Stratford Aces website. Davis, now in 3rd year university, played hockey in Stratford when she was Peewee age. She and her dad came form St Mary’s in response to that post. Kirsten G and her 2 friends from the Aces Midget A team were out to donate as well. Other Aces parents were in throughout the day as well. Bravo Aces!!
A huge thank you to the Stratford and area community that came out to the Blood Drive that night. It was heart-warming to have such support from the Aces Peewee C hockey team parents and everyone else who took the time to donate and help save lives this holiday season.
