Chevy Good Deeds Cup - Deed #3
Stratford Community Meal welcomes 3 Stratford Aces Peewee C team members to help serve meals.

Although we would have loved for all of the girls to be involved in this evening, only the helping hands of 3 girls was needed, so these 3 made the most of it.

Taylor Neeb, Grace Laverty and Rachel Horan joined in the hustle and bustle of helping serve a community meal at Knox Presbyterian Church on Friday, December 7th, 2018. This group of volunteers that the girls joined is a well oiled machine.

It was a large group from the community that attended for a ham supper, about 80 people in total.  The meal started at 5:15pm and the girls helped out by serving plates to their assigned tables, offering water, coffee and tea to each person, serving desserts and clearing tables.  The girls enjoyed chatting with attendees.  Some people asked the girls about the hockey jerseys they were wearing, so the girls got to talk about their hockey team too.

An hour later the guests started to get packed up, tables got cleared, chairs got stacked and in no time the hall looked like no one had ever been there.

As an adult in the Stratford community, I was surprised to learn about these Community Meals and spoke with a volunteers there to learn that there is typically a hot meal served each night of the week.

We are very fortunate as a hockey family to be able to afford to have our daughters in travel hockey.  My family will make it a point to help out at more community programs like this.  I hope you will too.
