Aces, Heat, skate to a draw
On Tuesday, Oct 24/2018 the Taylor Fluid Systems Peewee C Stratford Aces continued their road trip to take on the Huron Heat at the Zurich Arena (dubbed the ice box by shivering fans).

Throughout the game the Aces continued to build upon their solid foundation of positional awareness, determined puck pursuit and overall team chemistry.   Mid-way through the first, Stephanie Tsaltas opened the scoring by tipping a hard shot from Kylie Fifield past the Heat’s net-minder.

Hard play went back and forth, both teams generating rushes into the offensive zones.  With 6:15 left to play in the first, a Heat forward parked on the Aces’ doorstep, banged home a pass from behind the net, evening the score 1-1.

Early in the second, Ava Neumeister made a miraculous pad save to keep the contest knotted at 1.  On the ensuing rush, Deirdre Parsons streaked down the ice, curled to the center and fired a shot that beat the net-minder top shelf, putting the Aces back on top.

The Aces maintained the lead until late in the third period when the Heat managed to score the equalizer on a diving Neumeister.  In response, the Aces pressed the attack, generating multiple scoring opportunities, but each time they were denied, and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Next up on the schedule, the Aces host the rematch versus the Mitchell Meteors on Friday, October 26th, 2018 at the Stratford Rotary Complex.
