Total team effort earns Aces their first win
After opening the season 0-2, the Taylor Fluid Systems Peewee C Aces continued their road trip with a game against the Lambeth Lancers.

First period action saw all three lines come out with a determination to control the puck.  Great team play was on display as they cycled the puck in the offensive zone.  The Lancers were hard pressed to clear the blue line as the Aces maintained continuous pressure.  Scoring opened mid-way through the first when Taylor Neeb took a cross-ice pass from Kylie Fifield and buried it in the back of the net.

The Aces won the ensuing face off and went on the attack once more.  Aggressive forechecking by Alanah McIlroy and Laura Sheldon kept the Lancers on their heels.  With minutes left in the first, Deidre Parsons, parked on the doorstep, tipped a shot from the blue line past the Lancers’ net-minder, giving the Aces a comfortable two goal lead.

In the second and third periods, the Lancers responded with rushes of their own, but Ava Neumeister made big saves to keep them off the board.  The Aces D, led by Grace Laverty, smothered the opponent’s forwards with their swarming style of play, limiting the Lacers’ chances as time ticked away.

A late goal in the third by Neeb put the Aces up 3-0 and secured their first victory of the season.

The Aces travel to Etobicoke this weekend to participate in the annual Pink the Rink Tournament.
