Aces Playdowns
Written by Kristy Taylor. Turner Plumbing Peewee BB Aces Punch Ticket to Provincials

The Turner Plumbing Peewee BB secured their ticket to Provincial’s after facing the tough competition from the South Huron Sabres and the Huron Heat. The first game of the series had Stratford meeting up with the Sabres. Stratford capitalized in a hard fought game winning 1-0. Stratford’s lone goal was scored by Skylar Fadelle, assisted by Olivia Van Straaten late in the third period.
Game #2 the Aces travelled to Exeter, and the Sabres took advantage of their home ice winning 5-2. Stratford’s goals were scored by Addisyn Reinecker, assisted by Morgan Yantzi and Alia Poirier, and the second goal came from Olivia Van Straaten. The Aces knew they needed to regroup for the next games against the Huron Heat.
Huron Heat arrived in Stratford ready to battle. The two equally matched teams battled three periods to end in a scoreless tie. Goalie Ella Gracey stood on her head to keep Stratford’s momentum going, with another of her many shutouts this season.
Stratford went into their fourth game of the round robin knowing the only option was to win or tie to go to Provincials. The Sabres had won and tied against the Huron Heat. Both teams were hungry for a win. The Aces were pumped up, and could barely contain their excitement to get on the ice. They intensely listened to the pregame speeches given by coaching staff. The girls were told that the coaches wanted to hear Carrie Underwood’s “Champion” blast in the room after the game. It was almost pure fate as the girls took to the ice hearing Underwood’s song. The game was true edge off your seat action, putting NHL teams to shame. The game went scoreless until the third period. Aveleen Flood opened the scoring assisted by Skylar Fadelle and Alia Poirier. The game continued to be battle of wills as Huron Heat tried to add a goal of their own. With 43.6 seconds left Stratford added a security goal from Addisyn Reinecker, assisted by Poirier and Olivia Van Straaten. Gracey recorded another shutout in the 2-0 win. The whole team played with incredible intensity from the start to the exciting finish. The girls were ecstatic. The girls sang Underwood’s “Champion” at top of their lungs! They earned what they had been working for all season.
