NotesThe final weekend of play for the Sommers Generator Systems Peewee A team resulted in a tie and and a win! The girls headed to London to face the Devilettes on Saturday morning. Some slow legs out of the gate resulted in our Aces being down 3-1 going into the 3rd period. Kiara scored that first goal for the Aces, assisted by Hannah and Lauren. However, 2 minutes into the third period, the Aces drew within one goal. Lauren batted in a rebound assisted by Ashley and Ashlyn. Finally with 16 seconds left, Kiara gets her second of the game assisted by Clara. The girls were happy to leave London with a tie, 3-3. Sunday morning, back at home and the St. Thomas Panthers were up next! The Panthers are a quick skating team so the girls knew they needed to keep up! The Aces drew first blood with a nice shot by Kiara over the goalie's shoulder. However, the Panthers responded with one of their own. The game remained tied 1-1 until Ashlyn found herself in front of the Panther goalie with Kiara's pass on her stick. She scored the second goal and the girls held on for the win, despite some penalty trouble. A great ending to a good season of hockey! The girls will now play St. Thomas in the first round of playoffs! Good luck, Aces!!
