A Weekend of Road Trips
The Sommers Generator Systems Peewee A team made another long drive down the 401 to meet up with the Lakeshore Lightning once again!
During the first five minutes of the game our girls were on fire! The puck stayed in the offensive end and we had some great chances! However, Lakeshore finally found their legs and put a rebound in to go ahead 1-0 at the end of the first period. The second period started with Ella banking one in with the help of a Lakeshore defenceman and then Lauren making a beautiful pass to Kiara who made no mistake and put one past their goalie too...up 2-1! Sadie rounded out the scoring in the second period with two goals of her own. The first one assisted by Alexis and the second one unassisted. A solid 4-1 win for our Aces!
Another road trip on Sunday to visit the St. Thomas Panthers proved to be more of a challenge than expected! The Panthers were ready to play and caught our girls standing still when they scored before the end of the first. In the second period, Sadie found Lauren in front of the net to slide one past the Panther goalie. The Aces finally went ahead of St. Thomas when Hailey put one over the goalie’s shoulder. However, St. Thomas did not back down and put a lot of pressure on our girls in the third. Late in the third, the Panthers tied it up off the face-off. Unfortunately with only 2 minutes left the Aces ran out of time and had to settle for a tie.
Two practices this week, some spicy wings and then a two week break before the girls head back to the rink to finish up their season! We are looking forward to what 2019 will bring for our Peewee A team! Have a wonderful Christmas, Aces!
