Aces fall to B.A.D. Girl Blazers in final exhibition game
Dunny’s Source for Sports Atom C Stratford Aces faced the B.A.D. Girl Blazers in the second game of a home and home series to close out their exhibition season.

The Aces, playing their third game in as many days, were on their heels for the first three minutes of the game.  A solid shift by linemates Cassidy Nelemans, Katie Wheal and Abby Iacobellis provided a boost in energy for the girls.  The Blazers continued with their own spirited play, which resulted in a breakaway on goalie Peyton Boyles-Keating.  Boyles-Keating did a great job of reading the Blazer on the breakaway and making the stop look routine. A late penalty to the Blazers put the Aces on the powerplay.  A good rush by Krista McMahon and Paige Taylor led to a scoring opportunity with less than a minute to go in the first period. In the second and third, the Aces had multiple chances to score, only to be stonewalled by the Blazers’ netminder.  Halfway through the third, the Blazers broke out of their zone and scored on the ensuing rush for the first goal of the game.  After a scramble in front, Nelemans pushed one across the line to tie the game. Unfortunately, a quick whistle had already blown the play dead. The Blazers managed to score another goal with just under five minutes to play. Final score 2-0, Blazers The girls start their season on the road next week against the Mitchell Meteors, before heading to Etobicoke for the Pink the Rink Tournament.
