Notes
The Sit Pretty Custom Grooming Novice C Aces fought hard against the B.A.D Blazers HL but came up short after a mix up in front of their own net that resulted in a Blazers goal. The Aces had several good opportunities including a hard shot on net by Reese Campbell in the first, a breakaway by Milana Verellen that ended in a beautifully raised shot that was stopped short by the goalie, a long shot from Julia Glitz, and a penalty shot attempt by Mira Broughton after Olivia Willemsen drew a tripping penalty. Unfortunately the puck just couldn’t find the back of the net. On defence, Leighton Whetstone led the way with hustle and successful puck clearing, Jillian Rossi repeatedly came into the Blazers zone to keep the puck inside the blue line, and Madeleine Nickel made several hard shots to clear the puck from the Aces zone. The game ended with Stratford’s goalie (Lilly Harrigan) being pulled and an intense scuffle in front of the Blazers net that nearly tied the game. Whetstone was awarded the MVP (Ace) of the game for her strong defensive play.
