Christmas Spirit Lifts Aces
Hazy Fog Lifts Over Arena Clearing a Narrow Path to Ace Sunday Win

The Rod Smith Novice B Aces, fresh off a Team Christmas spirit high from the previous day lifted their lead weighted heads, pulled up their socks, put the keys in their ignitions and used the last of the gas in their tank to roll into the Sportsworld Arena Sunday morning to face a Ranger team ready for a tussle. Like a battle weary platoon dug deep in their fox holes, knowing that seeing it through this fight would give them the reprieve they desperately need when the battle is over, the Aces came, and dug in.

With every last scream of their voices, the Aces fronted the Rangers pre-game with loud intimidation as ammunition.  What the Aces needed to let the opponent know that today was going to be no ordinary fight.

Even with the offensive door swung especially slowly today, the big nickel in the hinge needing oil, the girls burst out of these squeaking gates as Cameron hammered at the Rangers in an ambush at the net burying the first shot on target. Ace gunners 1, Rangers, 0.

The Rangers would not have anymore of this aggressive front. They retaliated in lock step with cannons of their own, blasting a cannon high past Flanagan. Aces 1, Rangers 1.

The Rangers continued to make their presence known to the Aces - hammering Flanagan with wrist shots sailing at the net. Flanagan and Ace defensive player of the games Myla Burdett were up to the task, keeping their weary girls in this battle defensively. The break the girls desperately needed came at the end of the second where Ace O of the game Gianna Nickel of the Nickel, Cameron, Porter unit found herself at the doorstep of the Ranger goal and banged home a rebound -  Aces 2.  Rangers 1. An insurance goal came later from Jule Cameron  in the third frame sealing the Ranger defeat and providing the Ace bench staff with a huge sigh of relief, soothing and dampening the blows of the hammers pounding at their heads. Aces 3, Rangers 1.

When reached for comment post game coach Cameron proclaimed that practicing team unity with pub food, beer and late night merriment may be the key to future success for their group of sprightly young Aces along with their families..... Well.... Maybe they were just really lucky.

A well rested Ace squad will be host the Twin City Heracanes Friday at 6:15 at the RBC
