Rod Smith Novice B Aces Take 5 of 6 points in 3 games
Girls Earn Their Way to be Tied for First Place in LLFHL Central West

The Rod Smith Aces Hosted the Twin City Hericanes Saturday Morning at the Molson Rink for the first time in division play. Early on the battles were intense as the Hericanes were determined to prove themselves against the strong Ace team.  The Hericanes jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first dampening the Aces spirit early on. As a kick start response Coach Cameron tightened up the first line for a shift to put pressure on the Hericanes.  The moved paid dividends as Jule Cameron responded with her first of two on the day tying the game 1-1.  The Aces quickly jumped ahead from there with additional goals from Cameron, Gianna Nickel, Pippa Nyenhuis and Brooklyn Finnie.

The Aces hosted the league leading Woolwich Wild Sunday at the RBC determined to show the Wild just who belongs on top of the league. Pre-game in the dressing room the Novice B brass spoke to the girls about the value of each player making a difference in the game today and the girls proved to do just that.  Early end to end battles proved to the home crowd that this was going to be thriller. Defensive Player of the game Myla Burdett owned the blue line keeping the puck deep for the Ace offence allowing the Ace offensive star of the game Kiera Blain to bang home two for her team. The Wild fought back tying up game leaving the two sides in a draw and setting the stage for their exciting re-match Dec 22.

Game three put the Aces on the road in Huron Park to face off against the always pestilent South Huron Sabres. Always a thorn in the Aces side, the Aces needed to be on their toes to defend against the persistent threat of the relentless Sabre forwards.  Defensive player of the game netminder Reece Flanagan was ready for the task stopping the Sabre barrage period after period earning her a shutout with the help of her best friends on two occasions. Jule Cameron responded to the Sabre pressure netting two for her team while the entire team's back checking helped slow the Sabre attack.  The game ended in a thrilling 2-0 win for the Rod Smith Aces earning them 5 out of 6 points in three games propelled the Novice B's to a three way tie for first overall in the Central West division.

The Aces take part hosting the Aces Festival cup this weekend in what will prove to be a showcase of Stratford's strong girls hockey program for all to see.
