Roadrunners Race through Aces
Rod Smith Aces Looking for Their Groove before Exhibition Winds Up

The Rod Smith Novice B Aces traveled to Cambridge Sunday Morning to face the Roadrunners in their second to last exhibition game of the season.  The girls were in tough early but were buffeted by amazing goal post to goal post movement by Ace net minder Reese Flanagan.  The roadrunners star forward finally solved Flanagan late in the first to put Cambridge ahead by one.  The Aces fought back in the second and took the play back to the Roadrunners crashing the net but finding hard luck with the puck only finding goal post iron, not net; while the Roadrunners solved the Ace D two more times before the end of the second.  Into the third offensive Ace of the game Kiera Blain had had enough of the misfortune and used her speed to blast through the Runners D and finally get one through the pipes to put the Aces on the board. Linemate Linley Porter showed hustle on both ends of the ice earning her defensive Ace of the game.  The road runners and their offensive power added 3 more over Flanagan but the Aces kept up their tenacious play, never giving up with a beautiful walk in from the point by Niahm Appel, her first of this young year, and a beautiful one timer from rookie Brooklyn Finnie, her first goal as an Ace.

The girls travel to Seaforth Saturday morning to see the heat to regroup and rebound from this weekend's tough loss for the last game of the pre-season
