Short Benched Aces Lose a Nail-biter in Wallaceburg
The Stratford Novice C Aces, in the middle of a back to back to back three game weekend stretch, drop a heartbreaking nail-biter to the Wallaceburg Lakers Saturday
Providing consistency with Maeve Moss in goal for the second straight game the girls played their closest game of this young season. With only seven skaters dressed the Aces showed their determination as Charlie Macfarlane and Gianna Nickel set up Reese Flanagan for the Aces second goal of the season tying up the game 1-1. The game remained close with chances for both sides and multiple breakaways being stopped by both incredible goalies. Late in the third period, with 1:20 remaining the Lakers got one past Moss taking the lead 2-1 and dashed the hope of the Aces first draw of the year. Lady Luck will eventually come the Aces way.
The Aces travel to Georgetown tomorrow to look to pick up some points in the last of their three game weekend schedule. They are then home to play Ilderton on Friday night.
