Senior B's Battle to Tourney Title
The Stratford Egg Farmers of Ontario Senior B Aces had a strong showing in the Festival Cup Challenge this weekend.

The weekend started off strong with a 4-2 win over the Woolwich Wild. Janelle Krug started the scoring off early, finishing a rebound from linemate Jessica Chaffe, Chaffe also notched one of her own. Katie MacSorley capitalized on a flip pass breakaway from Lauren Brignolio & Kaitlyn Bannon added to the Aces scoring. In their second game of the night, Stratford faced the Wilmot Wolverines. Stratford recorded another 4-2 victory in the match up. Major highlight included a powerplay goal from the point by Brignolio; following a strong defensive coaching decision from Shelby Van Klooster. MacSorley & Chaffe rounded out the remainder of the Aces scoring for the night. The Aces continued their campaign Saturday evening with another set of back to back games. A short staffed squad fell short with a 4-2 loss to the Waterloo Ravens. Goaltender Olivia Pethick put up a strong effort to keep the Seniors close the entire game. In their final matchup of round robin play, the Senior B squad faced the newly formed Stratford Kinsmen Senior C team. With elimination on the line, the Senior B's came on strong putting up a 9-3 win. The MacSorley, Chaffe, Krug line put up 6 goals in the attack with Tara Chadwick adding 2. Courtney Downham had 3 assists in the effort with Lauren  Patterson rounding out the Aces assault. Anna Bilcke & Katelyn Aitcheson had strong defensive games holding the Kinsmen to 3. With a 3-1 record matched by only one other team, the Lady Aces headed to the final to face off against long-time tournament rivals the London Wheelers. In a quick paced, exciting game the Seniors struck first on a seeing-eye shot from team scoring leader Katie MacSorley. London answered back 3 minutes later. The offense came on strong for both teams to put up a 2-2 score at the end of the first. The tie remained through a battle of special teams in the second period. The Aces came out with determination in the third with MacSorley completing her hat trick to seal the tournament title with a 4-2 victory. The Senior B Aces would like to thank our biggest fan Erica Nemeth for her outstanding support all weekend! Special thanks for sponsorships from Boars Head, L.A.
