Schedule & Results, Downie Optimist Midget A, 2017-2018 (Stratford Aces Girls Hockey)

The Downie Optimist Midget A Aces secured a spot at the Provincial Championships in April by winning their final playdown game last night in Teeswater. The Aces tied the first of the three game series and then won the second, so only needed a tie last night to ensure their spot at Provincials. The Aces played a strong game against a tenacious Saugeen Maitland team, and won 2-1. Alyssa Pogson opened the scoring for the Aces in the first period which set the tone fast paced tone for the game. Saugeen tied the game early in the third, but Aimee King fired a beautiful one time shot from the blue line and scored with seven minutes left in regulation time. All the Aces finished strong and held off the Lightning to get the win. Congratulations ladies and good luck in April at Provincials.
