Notes
The Downie Optimist Midget A Aces ended their regular season with a win against the Orangeville Tigers on Saturday afternoon. Orangeville opened the scoring near the end of the first period, and it wasn't until the end of the second that Stratford could respond with a goal of their own. Marissa Van De Ploeg fired a wrist shot in from the high slot to put the Aces on the board. In a penalty filled third period both teams struggled to keep full lines on the ice and it wasn't until Orangeville had four of their skaters in the box and the Aces pulled their goalie that the Stratford girls could celebrate a goal by Lily Daum to seal the win with only 2 minutes left in the game. Olivia Hunt played a strong game in the Aces net. Stratford will now face Cambridge in the first round of playoffs.
