    The Downie Optimist Midget A Aces started the New Year off right, with a win Sunday against the Guelph Jr. Gryphons. Both teams battled hard for the first period and most of the second, until Alyssa Pogson fired in the Aces first goal of the game with a minute left in the second. Nicole Cosgrove smashed in a rebound mid way through the third to seal the win. Kayley Thompson played a strong game in the Aces net to record the shut out.
