NotesAces Picking Up Steam!
The Taylor Fluid Systems Atom B Aces braved snow covered and
icy roads last night and traveled to Mitchell to face off against the Meteors.
The game was tight with opportunities for us and harrowing chances against us.
The Aces walked away with a 0 – 0 tie and a shutout.
This parent has been a bit neglectful in getting write ups
out lately, but better late than never! The Atom B Aces and coaches have been
working tirelessly these past few weeks and it shows in their games. These
girls are picking up steam and closing the gap of goals per game against the
top rated teams and with 7 regular season games left and one tournament it is a
perfect time.
The last four games have all been 1 point games with the
Atom B’s getting goals in three of the four games. Sarnia Lady Sting (currently
ranked 4th) on Dec 2nd finished with a 2-1 loss. The Aces
scored first with a goal by Anne Nickel, assisted by Ella Taylor and Katelynn
McMahon. Lakeshore (currently ranked 1st) on Dec 3rd saw
the Aces lose 3-1 (1 empty netter). The goal in this game was a back hand shot,
top corner, scored by Paige Campbell and assisted by Devan Taylor and Abby
Iacobellis. Bluewater Hawks (currently ranked 3rd) on Dec 9th
ended in a 2-1 loss as well. Once again the Aces scored first and again by Anne
Nickel with the assist coming from Katelynn McMahon.
Last night’s game against Mitchell was icing on our
Christmas cake, (does anyone eat Christmas cake anymore?). A great performance
by Sloan Cameron in net earned her a shutout. Our defensive lines consisting of
Lila, Grace, Peyton, Devan, and Bronwyn also had stepped up with a late 3rd
period penalty. The Meteors could not get past us and the game ended in a 0-0
tie.
The Aces will play away, on Dec 16th against 2nd
rank Lucan Irish. Brave the winter weather and join us in Lucan.
