The Taylor Fluid Atom B Aces had two games this past
weekend. They walked away with a win and a loss.
Game one was played in Lucan on Friday and although the Aces battled hard they walked away with a 3-0 loss. Honorable mention to Katie Helson for her drive and determination in this game.
Game two was played at home on Saturday against the Woolwich Wild. The Wild started the scoring in the 1st period with a dribbler over the line. The Aces rallied back with two goals in the second and one in the third to win the game 3-1.
The first goal was scored at 8:10 in the 2nd, when Bronwyn Hawkins picked up the puck in our end and carried it into the offensive zone, she centered the puck and it was picked up by Katelynn McMahon whose shot was stopped by the Wild goalie. Katie Helson was right there to slap home the rebound.
The second goal was scored in the last few minutes of this period on a wild scramble around the net. All three forwards on the ice at that time were involved in the scrum with Paige Campbell getting credit for the goal and Ella Taylor and Stephanie Tsaltas getting assists. Great team work ladies.
The final goal of the game was scored halfway through the third. The Aces had a man advantage due to a Wild slashing penalty. Once again the trio of Ella, Stephane and Paige were involved with all three trading passes in front of the Wild’s net. The goal came when Ella passed to Paige who paused a split second, took aim and hit the top right corner of the net.
Honorable mentions Lila Mortimer for some great centering shots and Deirdre Parsons for her puck winning battles on the boards.
The Taylor Fluid Atom B Aces play again on the road, Tuesday in Waterloo @ 7:30pm and again on Sunday the 24th in a double header. They are at the Belmont Community Center against the Blazers at 11:00 am and back in Stratford at the Allman at 5:00 pm to play the Bluewater Hawks. Come join us if you can.
