Gryphons Edge Aces On The Road

On Saturday the Sommers Generator Systems Atom A Aces travelled to Guelph to take on the Jr. Gryphons. The Aces had a short bench as they were missing a few important cogs in the wheel. The coaching staff were forced to throw the lines into the blender and they came up with some dynamite combinations. The offence exploded early but the Aces seemed to run out of gas in the third period.

Stratford was looking very strong throughout the first period. The Aces offense was explosive and Guelph was unable to penetrate Stratford's notorious "Steel Curtain" defense. The first period remained scoreless until Victoria Campbell set up McKenzie Parsons as she sniped with four seconds remaining. Parsons strikes again, taking out the trash early
in the second and Skylar Fadelle picked up the helper. It appeared that the Aces were in complete control of the game but Guelph thought otherwise and picked up there play with four straight goals. They found the back of the net late in the second and followed it up with three third period goals to take the lead 4-2. The Aces seemed to be out of gas but they refused to give up clawing there way back into the game as Charlee Gethke hit Victoria Campbell with a stretch breakout pass springing Campbell on a breakaway. Campbell beat the Jr. Gryphon goaltender high blocker to bring Stratford within one but Guelph was able to weather the storm and hang on for a 4-3 win.
The Aces go back to work with a couple hard practices this week gearing up for a big weekend as they will give their loyal fans a show with the final two games of the season on home ice.
Lets Go Aces!!!
