Aces Tame Panthers In Home And Away Series
Last weekend the Sommers Generator Systems Atom A Aces picked up another four points taming the St. Thomas Panthers in a home and away series.

Last weekend the Sommers Generator Systems Atom A Aces picked up another four points taming the St. Thomas Panthers in a home and away series.

The action got started on Saturday afternoon in Stratford with the Aces offense exploding to a 2-0 lead in the first period. Olivia Cote-Wawryszyn opened up the scoring with a helper from Rylee Nethercott. Kiara McGregor padded the lead with the second goal with Kenleigh Soper picking up the assist. Stratford’s “iron curtain” like defense would hold off several ferocious Panther attacks until St. Thomas finally solved the stellar goaltending of Ella Gracey, getting them on the board with two minutes left in the game. The Aces held on for a fantastic 2-1 final.

Sunday evening the Aces flew down south to St. Thomas to try and silence the Panthers once again.  This time the prowling Panthers were ready for them springing an attack with only 15 seconds into the game to open up the scoring. The game remained 1-0 Panthers until late in the second period when the Aces offense came alive, lighting up the St. Thomas goaltender for 2 goals. Kiara Mcgregor received a pass from McKenzie Parsons and beat the goalie with a top corner ripper. With only 30 seconds left in the period, McGregor feathered a pass to Olivia Cote-Wawryszyn who laid down a Gretzky like wrap-around leaving the Panther goalie scratching her helmut. The game remained 2-1 Aces until mid-way through the third period when Stratford struck again.  Katie Antonio fired a rocket from the point and the St. Thomas goalie had no choice but to kick out a juicy rebound. The Aces went hard to the net and were rewarded. Aveleen Flood picked up the rebound and found McKenzie Parsons on the back door and Pars took out the trash for Stratford’s third goal of the night. The Aces would wrap up the home and away series for a 3-1 victory.

The Sommers Generator Systems have a couple workout sessions this week as they get ready for one last game before Christmas against the Kitchener Lady Rangers next Saturday morning at the Sportsworld Arena. Good luck ladies and thanks again for such a terrific effort!
