Notes
The Stratford Perth Auto Dismantlers Novice B Aces started their 2017-2018 season with a successful road trip coming home with a win and a loss. In the first game the Novice girls found themselves against a very evenly matched Grand River Mustangs. Both teams battled hard for puck possession with the Aces striking first on an unassisted goal by Eve Binns. Emma Van Nes, Niamh Appel and Krista McMahon provided spirited defensive play delivering key passes to move the out of our zone. The Aces had several opportunities in the offensive end with Chloe Schultz and Keira Blain both having chances to tie the game. The Aces did all they could at the end of the third period with a fury of shots but couldn’t solve a strong Mustang goalie.
The second game of the weekend found the Aces travelling to Wilmot on Sunday. The girls were hungry for their first victory of the year and it only took a couple of minutes to collect their first goal by Emersyn Miller (who scored twice in the game) on a beautiful assist from Jayda Houben breaking out of our zone. In the second period Eve Binns scored twice to seal the deal and provide the Novice Aces with their first win. Teresa Schuster and Claire Donnelly played very good defensive games with both girls holding the blue line preventing any sort of Wolverine momentum. On offence, Linley Porter put on a gritty performance having several scoring opportunities. Chloe Rison made several key saves throughout the weekend allowing the girls opportunities to be competitive in both games.
