Novice B Aces end Season at Provincials
On April 6-8 the Stratford Perth Auto Dismantlers Novice B Aces capped their excellent season off at Provincials.

On Friday April 6th, the Aces had two tough games. Up first was the Brock Jr. Badgers who had one very strong girl, scoring all but one of their goals. After a few weeks of very few games the Aces were a little bit rusty and the Badgers took advantage scoring 1 goal in the first and 3 in the second. The aces never gave up and came out strong in the third period. 3 minutes into the third period Emersyn Miller came down and scored a beautiful goal. Then with 3 minutes left Keira Blain battled hard for the puck and then made a pass to Miller who put it into the back of the net. Niamh Appel played a strong defensive game, covering the player out front of our net. She also keep the puck inside their blue line, this resulted in many scoring opportunities. Chloe Schultz had one of her best games of the season, breaking the puck out well, which earned her Ace of the game. Eve Binns worked hard on the back check, catching many girls before they were able to get a shot off, this earned her Defensive Ace of the Game.

Next up the girls faced a strong Orangeville Tigers team. The Tigers would open up the scoring, taking a 2-0 lead after the first. The Aces would come out strong in the second period and were rewarded with a goal. Schultz got her first of the season and it couldn’t have come at a better time! During the third period it was the Tigers who came out strong scoring 2 goals back to back. As usual the Aces never gave up and answered with two quick goals of their own. Miller would put one in the back of the net, making it 4-2. With the Aces putting the pressure on, they pulled their goalie and sent Emma Van Nes up on forward, who scored to make it 4-3. Teresa Schuster played big on defense, moving the puck up the ice and out of our end, giving the forwards an opportunity to score. Jayda Houben had many opportunities, working hard along the boards to come away with the puck, making great plays and getting a few shots off. With only minutes left the girls put all the pressure on, but were unable to tie it up. Ace of the game went to Emersyn Miller and Defensive Ace of the game went to Emma Van Nes for their strong play.

On Saturday April 7th, the Aces had their final game of the season, against Durham West Lightning. After one last playing of Sweet Caroline the Aces hit the ice flying. 4 minutes into the game Miller would pass the puck to Binns who put it into the back of the net, making it 1-0. Early into the second period the Lightning would tie it up. Throughout the second period the girls would battle back and forth, with Linley Porter digging hard in the corners and making some great passes. With one minute left in the third Miller would score, with assists going to Blain and Binns. The back and forth play continued into the third period and Claire Donnelly rushed the puck up the ice and got it deep into Lightning territory. Then with just under 4 minutes to play in the third, the Lightning scored two quick goals to go up 3-2. A minute later the Aces would answer right back, Krista McMahon would keep the puck in their end, passing it to Binns, who passed to Miller. Miller made no mistake, putting it into the back of the net and tying it up at 3. Chloe Rison was strong in net, making many big saves to keep the girls in the game.

This team of 12 accomplished many great things this past year, climbing many mountains. The girls came together as a team, won the Woodstock Tournament, made it to playoffs and qualified for Provincials after beating two teams higher in the standings than them. The coaching staff is extremely proud of everything you girls have done.

It has been an honour,
