This past week the All Equip Repair and Service Peewee BB Aces wrapped up their regular season with three games and a strong finish!
Game one took place on Monday January 16th in Thamesford against the first place West Oxford Inferno. Goaltender Courtney Lott received some unlucky bounces and the Aces were quickly down two goals within the first period. Working with a short bench the Aces stayed determined and kept applying the pressure to the Inferno. In the third period they managed to sneak two goals by the Inferno tender to tie the game up! They held down the Inferno for the remainder of the game to keep the score at 2-2!
Game two took place on Wednesday January 18 in Stratford against the third place team the London Devilettes. The Aces have had some tough luck with this team during the regular season. The girls had adrenaline pumping from the success of Mondays game. Again, working with a short bench and some position changes the Aces fought hard and battled the entire game! Goaltender Lott was a wall between the pipes making
some very impressive saves! This was any teams hockey game as both teams were battling hard to net that first goal! The Aces managed to sneak one by the Devilette goalie on a power play. The Devilettes were determined to put one past Lott but were unsuccessful. With a defensive third period the Aces secured the win for their final home game of the regular season!
Game three puck drop took place on Saturday January 21 against the second place team St.Thomas Panthers. The Panthers are well known for being a strong offensive team and have had solid goal tending all season long. The Panthers have been the tough contender of the West loop this season. The Aces came into this game with a taste for blood from their win against the London Devilettes! Determined to keep the train rolling they came on to the Panthers hard! With strong offence this game , the Aces kept control of the puck in the Panthers end during the first period! The Aces managed to put one in the back of the net and take the lead at the end of the first period! This meant the Panthers coming on to the Aces even stronger than before determined to tie up the game. In the second period it was anyone’s hockey game. Courtney Lott made some terrific saves but the Panthers managed to sneak one through on a defensive zone break down. Going into the third period it was a 1-1 hockey game with 12 minutes left! Within a few minutes the Aces managed to put another one in the back of the net! The crowd went wild!!!!!! With 5 minutes left to spare the Aces implemented more defense, they were determined to keep the 2-1 lead. With 1:30 left in the third the Panthers pulled their goalie and kept the play in the offensive zone. The Aces broke the puck out and scored an empty netter to turn it now into a 3-1 lead! The final buzzer went and the Aces went wild!
Now with regular season wrapped up with a very STRONG finish the Aces are ready to take on playoffs and play downs! Keep up the hard work ladies, the coaching staff is very proud of your sportsmanship , determination and hard work this regular season! Let’s go get them at the London tournament! Go Aces Go!
