Great weekend ends with bronze
After 5 hard fought games at Cambridge tournament on the weekend the Aces bring home a bronze medal.
The Ontario Egg Farmers Stratford Atom A Aces had 5 games in 2 days and finished a well deserved 3rd place. In the first game against Aurora they skated to a 1-0 victory. Mia Morris made sure the aces won with her first shutout of the tournament. Clara Leduc not only got the lone goal she also received MVP of the game. Ella Van Bakel and Shauna Everett assisted on the goal. In their 2nd game on Friday they played against the home team Cambridge. The roadrunners are in their league and they always have a good hard battle against them and this was the same with a 3-3 tie. Ella Van Bakel, Alia Poirier and Clara Leduc had the goals with Clara, Autumn Mikel, Olivia Rau, Kiara McGregor and Sadie MacArthur(2) assisting. Addisyn Reinecker earning the MVP. Saturday Morning the girls took on Peterborough and fought hard for another 1-0 win. Mia Morris got her 2nd shutout of tournament. Aveleen Flood found the back of the net and received MVP, with Clara Leduc getting the assist. With that victory the girls headed to the semi-finals. While the Aces battled hard throughout the game it ended in a 4-0 loss. MVP of the game was Shauna Everett. The loss sent them to the bronze medal game against Peterborough. This intense game saw both teams score 3 times in regulation and they went to overtime which settled nothing. Sienna Wildgust put on quite the show stopping all 3 shooters and earned the MVP. The shootout ended with Aveleen Flood burying the puck in the back of the net with an amazing bar down shot. Other scores in the game were Autumn Mikel with 2 and Sadie MacArthur with Kiara McGregor, Clara Leduc and Olivia Rau assisting. Congratulations Aces on earning another medal and showing everyone how hard you work and how well you all work as a team. Get some well deserved rest girls you deserve it.
