The Stratford Egg Farmers of Ontario Atom A
Aces were on the road last week for two games earning a point in both. Earlier
in the week, the girls faced off against Guelph in a gritty battle that ended
in a 2-2 tie. Early in the game, the Aces moved the puck around the offensive
zone eventually ending up with Jacklyn Hettinga on the blue line who unloaded a
cannon of a shot scoring her first goal of the year. Hailey Scott and Madison
Cardno provided the assists. In the third period, Olivia Harding dangled through
the defense making a beautiful pass to Ella Van Bakel who drove home the tying
goal. Brooklyn Chadwick’s initial pass got it all started.
In their second game, the girls found themselves up against Cambridge for the first time this season and came out with a 1-1 tie. Lucky for the Aces, a couple of ill-timed penalties by Cambridge opened up several power play opportunities. The tenacious offensive play of Meg Feore and Megan Bach created a beautiful pass to Anna Tigani who took advantage scoring the only goal for the Aces. Solid goaltending in two high-pressure games was provided by Mia Morris and Keira Akey in both games.
