Aces win first provincial play down game
The Perth Auto Dismantlers Novice C Aces were host to the St Marys Rock on Saturday Feb 13th and left that meeting with their first win in their provincial play downs.  The Aces record against the Rock was even to this point of the season with 2 wins, 2 losses and 2 ties.

This was a game that the Aces came to win and nothing was going to get in their way. From the drop of the first faceoff puck to the last minutes of play, the Aces played with spunk and tenacity.

The scoring started in the first with a great setup from Cassie Richardson and Aveleen Flood, allowing Olivia Rau to open the game. The action was fierce and scoreless through the rest of the first and all of the second. The Aces great teamwork resulted in many scoring opportunities, but they just couldn’t put it past the Rocks goaltender.

The Aces gave themselves a little breathing room halfway through the third with another great combination goal scored by Olivia Rau, assisted again by Aveleen Flood and Cassie Richardson. The girls and Marta Rintol were able to keep the score locked through the final minutes and the game ended as a 2-0 win. Great work Aces for earning their 11th shutout of the season. Congratulations to Cassie Richardson for her great determination and aggressiveness in the game. She earned the Coaches First Star award. Great Job Cassie!

The Aces will travel to Bradford this weekend, to participate the 35th Annual Wayne Gretzky Tournament.
